Core42 signs strategic partnership agreement with New Media Academy to generate Arabic content via AI Tool 'Jais'

New Media Academy, the first digital media institution of its kind in the Middle East, signed a strategic partnership agreement with Core42, a G42 company and the UAE-based national-scale enabler for cloud and generative AI, with the aim of improving and enhancing Jais; the world’s highest quality Arabic Large Language model.

The objective of the agreement centres around improving Jais’ ability to generate creative Arabic content that meets the specific needs of media, marketing, and corporate communications.

The agreement was formalised in an official signing ceremony by Hussein Al Atoli; Director of New Media Academy and Andrew Jackson; Executive Vice President, Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer of Core42, during the second edition of the Global Media Congress 2023, organised in Abu Dhabi by ADNEC in partnership with the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The collaboration demonstrates the commitment of the signing parties to keep up with the evolving AI scene and harness its great potential. Following the agreement, New Media Academy will provide Core42’s Jais with Arabic content used in its social media posts and videos, to enrich the Arabic digital content and help create high-quality Arabic content based on AI prompts. Such efforts contribute to providing faster, more creative solutions to aid content creators offer exceptional and meaningful content.

Leading System Andrew Jackson, Executive VP and Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer at Core42, stated, “Having recently launched our most advanced model of Jais, Jais 30B, this strategic partnership with the New Media Academy could not have come at a better time as we continue being at the forefront of Arabic-language generative AI research and development. Through Jais, we want to work ever closer with creative writers, academics and developers to accelerate growth and improve user experience, most recently including ALiBi (Attention with Linear Biases) which allows the model to be used with longer text sequences and provide better, more accurate content.”

Advanced Skills Following a successful participation in its premier edition, New Media Academy is taking part in the 2nd Global Media Congress, running from 14th to 16th November at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Visitors to the NMA stand will be able to participate in discussions and workshops that highlight the main challenges and trends of the media scene, regionally and globally. Multitasking Launched in August, the Arabic large language generative AI model Jais was born from the collaboration between Inception - now converged into Core42, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) and Cerebras Systems.

Core42’s latest and newly launched iteration of Jais, Jais 30B, features 30 billion parameters and was trained on larger datasets of 126 billion Arabic tokens, 251 billion English tokens and 50 billion code tokens with an increased performance compared to its predecessor. It also offers 160 percent longer and detailed answers in Arabic and a 233 percent increase in English. Developed in Abu Dhabi, it allows over 400 million Arabic-speakers to explore the potential of generative AI and perform multi tasks across scientific, academic, and business fields.
